Toppan Specialty Films to launch specialty CPP range at Interpack 2023 - Packaging South Asia

TSF plant in Punjab installs W&H Filmex 5-layer cast film line

Toppan Speciality Films in North India was earlier known as Max Specialty Films. The company was founded in 1990 and in 2017, the Japan headquartered Toppan with a turnover of over US$ 13 billion acquired a 49% stake in it. This stake was expanded to 90% 0n 1 February 2022, at which point the Indian company became Toppan’s consolidated subsidiary.

TSF is one of the leading suppliers of specialty packaging including sustainable ultra-high barrier solutions, value-added products for labels, coating, and thermal lamination films for the Indian and global markets.

With an annual manufacturing capacity of 80,000 metric tons and an employee strength of more than 500, the TSF Punjab plant has a state-of-the-art research and development center and several certifications including BRC ‘AA,’ NABL, and GPTW. A strong commitment to customer service and quality has helped the company establish itself in global markets and especially for its sustainable solutions that help customers meet their flexible film needs while reducing the potential impact on the environment.

The new 2.5-meter wide 5-layer barrier-enabled cast film line is versatile. It includes the W&H Die Control Wizard that together with the five extruders and an extra extruder for encapsulation provides great efficiency and flexibility in comparison to traditional cast film lines and processes.

The film width and thickness change for a new film requires a single click allowing the operator to focus on the other aspects of production. The innovative SMBII extruder screws process all the available materials that are used in the segment. The various components including the continuous dosing systems, well-polished melt pipes, exclusively designed feed block, and futuristic winder technologies make the machine highly efficient and productive. The feed block, die, and chill roll unit are claimed to provide optimal solutions for the fabrication of mono-, multi-, and nano-layer films.

The Filmex line is completely integrated and automated with all the processes from pellet supply to rewinder accessible and controllable from the Procontrol TS user interface console. The automation modules coupled with precision measuring technologies and real-time feedback help to achieve the highest quality specifications and productivity benchmarks.
